The Kate Nash Literary Agency is an innovative author management agency with a reputation for talent spotting in commercial fiction. We are looking for someone who will thrive on the freedom and challenge of building successful careers for authors. The role involves:
> liaising closely with authors and publishers
> managing authors' publication schedules, contracts and payments
> assessing manuscripts and discussing editorial thoughts with authors
> considering submissions
> preparing submission strategies
> negotiating deals
The ideal candidate:
> will be a confident and entrepreneurial self-starter, able to work independently, with support from our team
> will be a keen and discriminating reader with sharp awareness of book market trends and wider cutural trends in the UK and beyond
> will have at least two years experience in publishing or the creative industries
> will thrive on the freedom to discover talent, build their own client list and shape their role in directions of their choosing
> will be good at and enjoy building relationships with authors and publishers
It is an excellent opportunity for someone who has worked as an Editor, Literary Agent or as an Agent's Assistant although backgrounds from outside of publishing will also be considered.
The role is largely home based but will require regular travel to London and occasional travel elsewhere in the UK.
